After the dismissal of Giorgio Furlani, Gerry Cardinale, together with Zlatan Ibrahimović, Senior Advisor of RedBird, and Massimo Calvelli, a member of the AC Milan board of directors and executive of the American fund, is looking for a new chief executive officer to whom he can entrust Milan’s finances.
According to Corriere della Sera, the Rossoneri seem to prefer foreign figures for this role over those Italian profiles who have been linked with the club in recent days, such as Carnevali, Fenucci and Galliani: the dream is Michael Edwards from Liverpool, although Ian Ayre from Nashville is also in the running.
Meanwhile, a board meeting is scheduled for today to determine whether, on a temporary basis, Furlani will continue to carry out his duties or whether another board member will replace him pro tempore.
In the event of this second scenario, the leading candidate to take his place is Massimo Calvelli, who is playing a central role in Milan’s ongoing restructuring.
