Time is moving inexorably, and after the RedBird statement that relieved the technical and executive management of their duties, Milan still finds itself without the team that will lead the Rossoneri next season, both on the pitch and behind the scenes. Next week, on Tuesday, there will be a meeting between Zlatan Ibrahimović, the only remaining figure from the previous setup, and the now former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, during which it will become clear whether there is a real possibility of his arrival at Milan.
There are several factors that make one coach seem more plausible than another among the many possibilities that have emerged in recent days. First and foremost, a coach with a strong footballing philosophy, “in the mould of Fàbregas”, as the club's senior figures have explicitly stated. Then there are the financial offer, the coach’s transfer-market demands, decisions regarding the current squad, his willingness (or otherwise) to commit to this project, and finally, perhaps the most important factor of all, the approval of Ralf Rangnick and the coach’s proximity to his footballing vision, given that Rangnick is the leading candidate to become the club’s new technical director.
All of these aspects will be discussed and determined during the meeting scheduled for the coming days. Glasner is reportedly preparing thoroughly for these talks so that he has a clear vision for next season: where reinforcements are needed, what to do with returning loan players, who might be sold, and much more besides. Furthermore, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Austrian coach will prepare a comprehensive report to be submitted to the club, which could serve as a potential manifesto for Milan’s 2026–27 season.
