Morten Hjulmand is one of the hottest names of this summer's transfer market, which is set to heat up from 29 June, when negotiations officially open. The Danish midfielder, formerly of Lecce, born in 1999 and captain of Sporting Clube de Portugal in Lisbon, has attracted interest from several European clubs that would like to prise him away from the 'Lions'.
This morning in Portugal, the newspaper 'A Bola' reported on the midfielder's situation and highlighted several aspects that could also interest Milan, due to Ruben Amorim.
Could Amorim convince Hjulmand to join AC Milan?
According to the report, after last summer, when Sporting Clube decided not to sell Hjulmand despite strong interest, particularly from Juventus, the player and the club reached an unwritten agreement that he could leave this summer for a fee lower than his €80 million release clause. For this reason, the player's current valuation is estimated at €40–50 million.
At present, Milan would be unlikely to invest such a sum, considering the extent to which they still need to strengthen the squad. Portuguese journalists, however, emphasise that the relationship between Amorim and Hjulmand is excellent, and that the new Rossoneri coach could persuade him to push for a move to the Milan club. There is also interest from clubs in the Premier League and from Atlético Madrid, as relayed via Milan News.
