Ruben Loftus-Cheek has failed to fully realise his potential even at Milan. In fact, even during the season in which he scored 10 goals under Pioli, several doubts had already emerged about the former Chelsea midfielder. When Stefano Pioli left, the goals disappeared as well, but the numerous physical problems remained.
Even under Allegri, who last summer had asked both him and Fofana to contribute a significant number of goals, things did not improve. And they will not improve under Amorim either: Milan's new manager does not consider Loftus-Cheek a player to build around.
The Englishman earns around €4 million per year and his contract is approaching its expiry date on 30 June 2027. It will not be easy for Milan to generate a transfer fee from his departure, but it is clear that a solution will have to be found during the summer. Speaking in Monaco during the Formula 1 weekend a few weeks ago, Loftus-Cheek also commented on his future:
"At the moment I can't say much. I'm taking some time to relax and enjoy the holidays with my family."
He would like to return to England, but at present there is no concrete interest from any English club.
