Nearly a month after Gerry Cardinale’s intervention regarding the Rossoneri management structure, Milan have still not officially filled the positions of technical director and sporting director. Time is passing, the transfer market is already in full swing, and the club needs to ensure operational support for its new head coach, Ruben Amorim. With the pursuits of Markus Krösche and Timmo Hardung currently looking very difficult, the internal responsibilities of Jovan Kirovski and Bobby Gardiner are increasing, as they have been tasked with beginning the construction of the squad alongside the new manager.
Alongside these two internal figures, Milan still need an experienced executive. For this reason, Domenico Teti, former sporting director of Wolverhampton with experience both in Italy and abroad, has come onto the Rossoneri’s radar. However, the name that has been gaining the most momentum in recent days is George Gardi, as first reported by MilanNews.it. The Italian agent, who has worked in recent years as a consultant for Galatasaray, has been involved in major and complex deals concerning Victor Osimhen, Mauro Icardi, Leroy Sané and Dries Mertens, and has also previously acted as an intermediary in transfers such as those of Marek Hamšík and Samuel Eto’o to Trabzonspor and Antalyaspor respectively. Gardi would bring contacts, experience and speed to negotiations, both for incoming and outgoing transfers — exactly what Milan would need.
At present, there have reportedly been no new contacts with Devin Ozek, the former Fenerbahçe sporting director who is on the shortlist of Cardinale and Calvelli. There is, however, another scenario worth monitoring: the club could temporarily rely on an internal solution, allowing Krösche and Hardung to complete Eintracht’s summer transfer window, let tensions cool, and then attempt a fresh approach in September. It is a possible route, but far from a straightforward one.
