France beat Norway 4–1 and thus finished their World Cup group stage in first place with a perfect record. The standout player of the match was Dembélé with a hat-trick (with Doué scoring the other goal), but Mike Maignan also played a decisive role. At 3–1, he saved a penalty from Strand Larsen, effectively ending any hopes of a Norwegian comeback.
Interviewed by DAZN after the match, the AC Milan goalkeeper commented on the saved penalty as follows: “It was a very nice moment, perhaps also decisive because after that penalty it could have gone 3–2, but instead it stayed 3–1. It was a good thing for the team, we work very hard and we are very focused on what we have to do. It was a nice moment for the team.”
