The current focus is solely on Mario Gila and finalising the deal with Lazio, but AC Milan will not stop at signing the Spaniard to strengthen their defence. Another defender is certain to arrive at Ruben Amorim's side. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, one name to keep an eye on is Victor Valdepeñas, the 2006-born Real Madrid player who can operate both as a centre-back and as a full-back.
The young Spaniard, who shares the same agent as Gila, was already on the shortlist of former Milan sporting director Igli Tare, who was dismissed a few weeks ago after the Rossoneri failed to qualify for the Champions League.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, Milan's immediate priority remains elsewhere:
"Today, the priority is to complete the Gila deal, avoiding any late moves or renewed interest from Napoli or Atalanta. The Lazio defender will not be the Rossoneri's final signing of the summer, which got off to a flying start thanks to the Gonçalo Ramos deal. Amorim and Cardinale are already working on their next targets."
