According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina are leading the race to sign young talent Victor Valdepenas. The 2006-born player had also been linked with AC Milan in recent days as a possible replacement for Odogu. However, at present, Fiorentina are ahead of all the other clubs because they made their move well in advance of their rivals.
Before the deal can be finalised, though, they will have to wait for the approval of the new Real Madrid manager, José Mourinho, who wants to assess the player during pre-season training before deciding whether to let him leave. Setting Mourinho aside, if Valdepenas' future is to be in Italy, then as things stand today, he would be wearing the purple shirt of Fiorentina.
