Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport reports some of the new ideas that Ruben Amorim will bring to Milan:
Training with the ball:
Fewer “repetitions” and long-distance running sessions; the Portuguese coach works extensively with the ball during training, while maintaining a high level of intensity.
Pressing by instinct:
His Milan side will have to win the ball back quickly, so they will need an organised pressing system in which everyone moves in sync and almost automatically.
Build up and vertical play:
Amorim builds play with three defenders and two holding midfielders. Possession of the ball must not be an end in itself; there is a strong emphasis on looking to play forward and attack vertically.
Amorim also focuses on short video sessions
No long video meetings for the players. Amorim uses a few clips to keep their attention levels high. He will mainly teach tactics out on the pitch.
