Mario Gila is officially a new AC Milan player. The Spaniard spoke to the Rossoneri club’s official channels. Here are his statements:
"My Serie A experience? I went through a very difficult period. In my first few years, I wasn’t playing. I came from Real Madrid with the mindset of a young player and I expected to play. But then you realise that Serie A and this level of football are very demanding, and it isn’t easy. However, I never gave up. I looked for outside help because I’m someone who never gives up in that sense."
"When we were approaching the end of last season, Davide Ranzato put this word into my head: ‘Perseverance’. He told me that this is my word because I never quit. I look at the shirt I have signed for, and I also define myself that way, because I went through difficult moments, but I was rewarded.”
What does Milan mean to you? Gila replied:
"For me, Milan is a dream, one of the most important clubs in Europe. You can see it in the club’s history, its trophies, what it represents, and the power it has worldwide. I have taken a step that, in a way, embodies all the effort I have put in throughout my life, as well as the effort of my family. It is a place where I can express the potential I believe I have."

Gila, what kind of player are you?
"I’m a very perfectionist player. I always give my maximum in every aspect of my life. If you watch me, on the pitch I am much more arrogant. I’m someone who looks you in the eye, I’m aggressive. I want to help the team in these phases, not only on the pitch but also off it."
"I want to help my teammates, but also allow myself to be helped by them and learn. I am joining a club where I have come to learn. I’m a cheerful, likeable player who makes the people around him feel good."
What did Milan represent to you while you were growing up?
"What I saw during my childhood, when I experienced football with great emotion and wanted to fulfil my dreams by playing for the strongest teams in the world, was a Milan side that made history. And that is the shirt I am wearing."
