Mario Gila had long been a Milan target. Igli Tare had already tried to sign him a year earlier when he brought him to Lazio, but nothing came of it, despite the potential move also having Max Allegri's approval.
Now, however, the deal is done: the Spanish defender has joined the Rossoneri. In fact, Milan first secured the defender's approval by beating competition from Napoli, who had made the first move, and then approached president Claudio Lotito to obtain the green light.
Gila to Milan - The contract details:
The ex Real Madrid defender has agreed to a five-year contract running until June 2031. His salary will be around €5 million net per season, and this proved to be the decisive factor that allowed the Rossoneri to outbid Napoli, who had already reached a preliminary agreement with the player, as relayed via CalcioMercato.
