New manager, new life at Milanello. Ruben Amorim’s arrival as AC Milan’s head coach has naturally brought changes to the Rossoneri’s training methods and way of working. Some of these changes have already become apparent during the first five days of pre-season, even though the squad is not yet at full strength. In today’s edition, La Gazzetta dello Sport highlighted several innovative and distinctive aspects of the new Milan coach’s approach on the training pitch.
In particular, the newspaper focused on the structure of Amorim’s training sessions. Its headline read:
"Intensity? Yes, but with short sessions."
During these opening days at Milanello, Amorim has scheduled just one training session each morning. The sessions are generally short, although some are more demanding than others. While the pace may vary, it remains consistently high, and one constant is the presence of the ball throughout the drills. Amorim also likes to be actively involved, moving among the players and taking part alongside them during training.
