Milan are working on two very different profiles to complete Ruben Amorim’s squad ahead of next season. On one hand, there is Kostantinos Karetsas, the Genk attacking talent born in 2007, identified as a potential left-footed attacking midfielder to play alongside Pulisic behind the striker. On the other hand, Raphael Guerreiro’s candidacy is gaining increasing momentum, with the experienced and versatile player viewed as a possible replacement for Pervis Estupiñán should the Ecuadorian complete his move to Aston Villa.
Karetsas is the ideal profile for Amorim's 3-4-2-1 system
Amorim has asked Milan to find a player for the attacking midfield positions who is capable of starting from a wide area, beating his man and cutting inside to create chances and finish moves. After initial tentative enquiries for Trincão and Alajbegović, the choice appears to have ultimately fallen on Kostantinos Karetsas: the Greek Genk talent is left-footed, technically gifted and creative, and in his latest season in Belgium recorded 3 goals and an impressive 19 assists, as relayed via Milannews.it.
Taking him away from Genk will be far from easy, especially as the Belgian club values the player at no less than €35 million. Borussia Dortmund are also interested in Karetsas and have reportedly already submitted a €25 million offer, which was rejected by Genk.
Guerreiro could also reinforce AC Milan
Alongside the search for an attacking midfielder, the Rossoneri are also considering Raphael Guerreiro as a potential successor to Estupiñán. The Portuguese player, a free agent after his latest spell at Bayern Munich, would represent an opportunity to sign an experienced player on a free transfer.
A left-back by trade, Guerreiro can also operate on the opposite flank, as an attacking wide player and even in central midfield. His versatility would be particularly useful in Amorim’s system, which requires his wing-backs to contribute to build-up play and occupy different areas of the pitch.
