Among the players set to leave Milan are also Rafael Leão and Santiago Giménez. The former announced a few weeks ago that he considers his seven-year spell with the Rossoneri to be over, while the latter has never fully convinced since arriving at Milanello (he scored zero Serie A goals last season) and is therefore on the transfer market. From their departures, the Rossoneri are hoping to bring in a significant amount of money, which will then be used to make further signings.
Leão and Giménez on the way out, but no offers yet
The problem is that, for now, no concrete offers have arrived for either Leão or Giménez. The Portuguese forward dreams of a future in the Premier League or La Liga, but from those leagues there have only been exploratory enquiries, such as those from Manchester United, Tottenham and Barcelona. None of these clubs, however, have followed up their interest with a formal offer.
At the moment, the only proposals on Leão’s table are both from Turkey: one from Galatasaray and one from Fenerbahçe. As for the Mexican striker, there have been clubs asking for information, including Porto and Orlando City, but in this case too no genuine bids have reached Casa Milan. At the Rossoneri club headquarters, Milan had hoped that the World Cup could attract potential buyers, but neither player managed to make an impact (especially Giménez, who ended the tournament with only a few minutes on the pitch and no goals), as pointed out via Milannews.it.
How much are Leão and Giménez worth?
The Rossoneri hope that something can change in the coming weeks, while being aware that they cannot afford to sell either player on the cheap, because the money raised from their departures will be needed to fund further incoming transfers.
For Leão, whose minimum sale threshold to avoid a capital loss is around €11 million, Milan are aiming to receive €60 million. Giménez’s situation is slightly more complicated, because the Rossoneri cannot accept less than €20 million for him, meaning they are hoping for an offer in the region of €25–30 million.
As things stand, however, it appears extremely difficult to secure such figures for either the Portuguese forward or the Mexican striker, and this represents a significant problem for Milan’s incoming transfer business as well.
