Luka Modrić’s one-year contract renewal will become official very soon, but his stay will not change AC Milan and Ruben Amorim’s plans for Ardon Jashari.
According to Gazzetta.it, the focus is primarily on the administrative details surrounding the midfielder’s contract extension and his schedule for the coming days.
The Italian newspaper reports that the official announcement of Modrić’s one-year renewal is expected tomorrow, with the Croatian set to remain on the same €3.5 million net salary. He will then join his teammates on the pre-season tour of Australia next Wednesday.
Jashari and Modrić’s coexistence
Modrić’s next season in the Rossoneri shirt will be different from the previous one. With another year added to his age, he will turn 41 in September, as well as the addition of Europa League commitments and a more demanding style of play, his workload will need to be managed differently, with fewer starts expected.
This is where Ardon Jashari comes in. The Swiss midfielder had limited opportunities last season due to an injury and Max Allegri’s choices, but Amorim intends to make greater use of him, writes Milan Press. Initially, Jashari could carve out a role mainly in the Europa League, but as the season progresses, the plans could evolve.
