The signature has already arrived, with only the official announcement missing. That will come soon, however, as the club statement confirming Luka Modric’s contract extension with Milan until 2027 is expected this afternoon. The Croatian midfielder will earn €3.5 million per season plus bonuses.
Modric aiming for a record-breaking year
Modric, who will turn 41 on 9 September, will use this season with the Rossoneri to, among other things, challenge Ibrahimovic in a special ranking: the oldest goalscorer in Serie A history. The Swedish striker scored his final league goal at the age of 41 years and five months, as pointed out via Milan News today. Modric is already among the oldest players to score in the league, having found the net at 40 years and five months.
Should he score during the second half of next season, the Croatian could overtake Zlatan and become the oldest player ever to score a goal in the history of the Italian top flight. It would be another possible record for a timeless champion.
