AC Milan have secured a defender for both the present and the future. The club are on the verge of completing their third signing of the summer transfer window: Sankhoun Diawara, the 2006-born centre-back from Troyes. The deal is expected to be finalised for a fee between €2 million and €3 million.
A deputy to Pavlovic rather than a Milan Futuro player
The initial plan appeared to involve Diawara splitting his time between Milan Futuro and the first team. However, the 20-year-old French defender will instead join Ruben Amorim's senior squad immediately. As a left-footed centre-back, he is expected to serve as the backup to Strahinja Pavlovic.
Diawara: a signing for today and tomorrow
Diawara made 17 appearances last season, his first at senior level, marking the completion of a journey that began when he joined Troyes at the age of 14. He has spent his entire development with the French club, which earned promotion to Ligue 1 last season, as pointed out via Milan Press. The Rossoneri see him as a player capable of contributing both immediately and in the years ahead.
