Ismael Bennacer's adventure with AC Milan officially ends today. The Rossoneri announced the termination of the contract by mutual consent in their statement:
"AC Milan can confirm the termination of Ismaël Bennacer's contract by mutual consent. The Club would like to wish him all the best for the future."
The Algerian midfielder, for his part, shared a heartfelt message on social media. Here are his words:
"Hello Milan fans. Last year, when I said goodbye to you, I never imagined that those words would end up taking on the meaning of a farewell. Nothing will ever erase the memories we built here over more than five years. I wore this shirt with pride, passion and determination, alongside extraordinary teammates and with your unconditional support behind me.
Winning the Scudetto in this shirt will forever remain one of the greatest memories of my career. Playing at San Siro in front of you was also one of the greatest honours. I would like to thank everyone who shared this journey with me: my teammates, the different coaching staffs, the club employees and everyone who helped make this adventure so special.
A special thought goes to you, Rossoneri fans, whose love and support will remain forever engraved in my heart. You are the ones who make Milan a unique club. I hope our paths cross again, in one way or another, because deep down I feel that our story is not completely over yet.
Thank you for everything. Forza Milan forever."
For the record, Bennacer spent last season on loan at Dinamo Zagreb. Now, it remains to be seen where he will eventually end up. But, Qatari outfit Al-Gharafa SC are among clubs keen on securing the 28-year-old's services.
