More than 24 hours after the news first emerged, Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot’s decision to extend their holidays and return to training on 16 August continues to generate debate. They were originally due to return to Milanello tomorrow. The decision has not gone down well, particularly when compared with Lautaro and Thuram, who returned to work at Inter’s training ground last Sunday. The anger of many Milan fans has erupted.
This morning, Corriere dello Sport outlined the Maignan-Rabiot situation. The headline reads:
"Milan chaos, sometimes they don’t come back."
The reference to the two Frenchmen is clear. The paper then explains what happened and the reaction within the Rossoneri camp through its kicker and subheading: "No punishment: the decision is legitimate. But what a difference compared with teammate Thuram. Maignan and Rabiot extend their holidays until 16 August. Fans furious: debut at risk."
With just one week remaining before Torino-Milan, the availability and even the potential playing time of the two players are now also in doubt.
