When a club has several players to offload while also needing to make new signings, one of the “simplest” solutions is often a swap deal with another club. And perhaps this scenario could also involve Milan and Juventus, both of whom have surplus players to move on while also looking to strengthen their squads.
For this reason, today’s edition of Tuttosport has suggested the following swap: Nico Gonzalez to Milan and Youssouf Fofana to Juventus. It is no secret that Milan are in looking for a left-footed attacking midfielder, and the Argentine has the characteristics Ruben Amorim is looking for. He could also play as a wing-back, as Samuel Chukwueze is currently doing. Juventus, meanwhile, are looking for a ball-winning midfielder like the Frenchman, who is one of the four players deemed surplus to requirements by the Portuguese coach. At present, however, there is nothing concrete between the two clubs. It is merely an idea that could gain momentum in the final days of the summer transfer window, as relayed via Milan News.
There are several question marks at this stage. Nico Gonzalez, for example, would like to continue his career at Atletico Madrid, where he spent last season on loan. The Spanish club had an option to buy him but chose not to exercise it, meaning the player returned to Turin. In recent weeks, the two clubs have been in contact over a potential new deal, but nothing concrete has materialised.
There is also the fact that Fofana does not currently appear to be among Juventus’ potential midfield targets, with former Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, who is currently a free agent, their first choice for the position. However, if Nico Gonzalez and Fofana are still with their respective clubs just a few days before the transfer window closes, who knows whether a last-minute swap could emerge that satisfies everyone.
