Peppe Di Stefano, a Sky Sport journalist, spoke to MilanVibes about Ruben Amorim’s decision to leave Christopher Nkunku out of his plans:
"Nkunku probably hasn’t convinced him over the past month. I watched him for 15 days during partially open training sessions, and I can say that, despite being a strong player, I never saw that burning desire in him. He never showed that spark that makes you think he could come on and change a game."
"There are some relationships that seem destined to work, but never will, whether because of an incompatibility with the environment or the dressing room. He arrived in August and struggled during the first few months. When he finally found his fitness, the Rossoneri had virtually decided to sell him. He became the top scorer in the second half of the season, but his style of play did not convince Amorim. Still, it is good that decisions are being made. This is what has been decided, and this is the line the club is taking."
Will there be more departures?
"You have to be good as a management team, and the players also need to be willing to cooperate with just 15 days left before the end of the transfer window. Many players could dig their heels in and decide to stay, even if they are out of the project, hoping that something will change after the first few matches. So everyone needs to show common sense. I don’t think they will leave with the squad, and I hope this decision can also have an impact on the training sessions."
