These are decisive hours for Rafael Leão at Milan.
As is well known, the player has been on his way out for some time and, as previously reported, he is being contested by Galatasaray and Aston Villa. After the Turkish club reached an agreement with Milan last night (READ HERE) for a €45 million deal plus bonuses, Aston Villa have now made an improved offer to the Rossoneri, proposing a different formula based on an €8 million loan with an obligation to buy for €42 million. This would bring the total to €50 million and leave the final decision in the player's hands.
Today could be the decisive day, with two separate meetings scheduled to find the best solution. The player is regularly at Milanello training with the team, also in preparation for the upcoming league match against Venezia, Milan's first at San Siro, scheduled for tomorrow, 28 August, at 20:45. Around lunchtime, there are expected to be talks between the player's representatives and Aston Villa. Then, in the afternoon, Leão himself and his entourage will also hold talks with George Gardi, representing Galatasaray.
So, to recap the figures proposed by Galatasaray and Aston Villa, at least as of Wednesday evening, 26 August: the Turkish club are offering €45 million plus bonuses, while Aston Villa have put forward an €8 million loan with an obligation to buy for €42 million.
There is also some difference in the salary offered to the player. Galatasaray had offered €10 million plus €2 million in bonuses, while the English club have gone as high as €7 million net per year. Leão's demand was €12 million plus €3 million in bonuses.
