Luca Bianchin, a journalist, spoke to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' about Milan’s transfer market:
"It is strange, this €150 million transfer window for Milan. Asymmetrical: a lot of spending at the beginning, little or nothing towards the end. International: no Italian players, with only one signing from Serie A. Surprising: Diego Moreira was not expected, and over time it was decided that a centre-back was not a priority. At this point, it will be interesting to see what Amorim does with the squad at his disposal. It is clear that he will not be conservative, he will continue with his ideas of breaking away from the past, but now we are getting to the heart of it."
"Gerry Cardinale," Luca Bianchin explained, "laid out the path at the beginning of the summer: ‘We play to win, not to avoid losing.’ Ruben Amorim took him at his word, and it was not difficult to do so: it is his footballing philosophy. Against Torino and Venezia, Milan took risks and approached the games as if they could finish 3-2 rather than 1-0. It did not always work, but there were always good spells, which will have pleased Milan fans after a year of Allegri-style dieting: a little whipped cream after twelve months of plain chicken and rice can certainly lift the mood. The difficult part will come during the more challenging periods, with matches every three days and tougher opponents. Take December and January, for example: Sunderland, Napoli, Como, Monza, Fiorentina and Roma in succession, without much time to rest. Maintaining consistency while combining balance and flair will not be easy."
