Interviewed by CBS Sports Golazo after the final whistle of AC Milan's 3-1 derby victory over Inter, Luka Modric said:
"An incredible victory, an incredible performance from the first minute. I think this was perhaps our best match of the season. Overall, we deserved the victory and we are really happy after the disappointing result in midweek against Bologna."
How did you recover after the defeat against Bologna?
"You have to be positive. You cannot complain too much about the last match because you know that the next one is just around the corner. It is an important match and there is no better opportunity to test yourself against Inter, and we did that. Unfortunately, if we want to achieve something important, we cannot afford to lose matches like the one against Bologna."
How is your progress as a team going? Modric commented:
"We are growing as a team, there are new ideas in our style of play. Sometimes there will be ups and downs, but we have to try to minimise the latter if we want to win titles."
What did you think of the atmosphere at San Siro? Modric said:
"It was incredible. Since I arrived here, the atmosphere has always been fantastic, in every match, but especially in matches like the derbies. Tonight, from the warm-up onwards, they were incredible, and this kind of atmosphere helps you win even more."
After the disappointment of missing out on Champions League qualification last season, you decided to stay at Milan for another year. Why?
"I feel good at Milan, I feel loved and appreciated here. I spoke with the club and the new head coach, and I wanted to stay because I feel good here, I love this game and I enjoy myself. I stayed to help the team and the younger players grow."
