There are still almost two years to go before AC Milan’s partnership with Puma comes to an end, but the club is reportedly already working on an agreement with a new technical partner for the future. According to reports in recent days from 'Footy Headlines' Adidas is preparing to announce a major new agreement with an Italian club.

According to 'Calcio e Finanza', that club is expected to be AC Milan. The agreement between the Rossoneri and Puma, which currently manufactures Milan’s kits, expires on June 30, 2028, and is not expected to be renewed. This would make way for the other German sportswear giant, Adidas, which would return as Milan’s kit supplier after a decade away.

Adidas and Milan had previously been partners for twenty years. The club then switched to Puma in the 2018/19 season, beginning a ten-year relationship that included a contract renewal in 2022. Milan now appears set to return to its former supplier. It is not unusual for the first reports of such a deal to emerge this far in advance, given the amount of planning required to design and manufacture kits for a top-tier football club.

There has been no official comment from Casa Milan regarding the possibility. The club has reiterated that Puma remains an important partner and that the current agreement runs until 2028. Puma also holds the naming rights to the Vismara training centre, home to Milan’s youth academy, which has been renamed the Puma House of Football. Nevertheless, the direction now appears fairly clear, with Adidas expected to take over in just under two years.

A new agreement could also provide Gerry Cardinale's AC Milan with a significant financial boost. The club recently announced that sponsorship revenues have exceeded €100 million per year for the first time in its history. This figure has benefited from an increase in the amount paid by another major partner, Emirates, and could rise further in the 2026/27 season following the renewal of the agreement with the airline.

Puma currently pays Milan just over €25 million per year for its technical sponsorship, according to the official figures from the latest available financial statements for the 2024/25 season. The accounts for the 2025/26 financial year will reveal the value of the deal for last season, but in any case, Milan can reasonably expect an increase in this area as well if a new agreement with Adidas is finalized, as relayed via Calcio é Finanza.

If the deal is completed, Adidas will add another Serie A club to its portfolio alongside Juventus, Roma and Lecce. Como, however, will no longer be part of the Adidas stable, as the club is set to begin producing its own kits from the 2027/28 season onwards, following a model similar to that adopted by Napoli.
