Como forward Mattia Liberali gave a lengthy interview to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport', in which he also spoke about his departure from Milan.
Here is what he said:
"They were the team that brought me through from a young age, and I recognise that. In fact, I am truly grateful to them, but in football, paths sometimes have to go their separate ways. At that moment, the right choice for me was to take a step back and perhaps go down to a lower division to play regularly."
Liberali is also playing a key role for Silvio Baldini's Italy Under-21 side, where he has reunited with his former Catanzaro teammates Favasuli and Cisse:
"I'm happy to have found them again here with the Azzurrini because they are two wonderful lads. I spent a fantastic year with them, and we speak every week. I'm also playing with Camarda again. We have a great connection on the pitch because we've known each other since we were kids."
"Totti? One of my idols when I was a kid. Another was Dybala at Juventus. Now, though, I have examples right here with me: Nico Paz and Baturina."
Mattia Liberali, Can you and Nico play together?
"Ask Fabregas... In training, we work well together. But I have to say, we enjoy playing with everyone."
Have you learned Spanish?
"A little, and a little English too. You have to. But I like getting to know the other guys, different cultures, and how they think. It’s another way to grow."
