Paulo Fonseca is the new head coach of Sporting. After leaving Lyon unexpectedly, a decision that the club did not appreciate, the Portuguese coach has taken charge of the Lisbon club, signing a contract until 30 June 2030.
At Sporting, he replaces Rui Borges and, while speaking about the occasion, he also shared an anecdote from his time at Milan.
"I can tell you this story. I was at Milan, we were playing against Roma and the coach who would take my place had already been appointed (Conceição). The following day, I had to quickly empty my office and my locker because the new coach wanted to move in. And do you know something? I did not even receive a phone call, but there was no need for one."
Fonseca added:
"In football, these situations are part of the game and I did not take it personally. We must understand, without hypocrisy, that these processes are natural." This was relayed via Calcio Mercato.
