A few days after Milan's victory in the derby against Inter following six consecutive losses, former sporting director of Bologna, Roma, and Salernitana, among others, Walter Sabatini, spoke about the match and what propelled the Rossoneri to victory.
When he was asked about the derby, he first shifts the focus to coach Paulo Fonseca:
"It disturbed me quite a bit to see Fonseca accused of everything before the derby; it was only missing that they blamed him for the floods in Romagna..."
Regarding AC Milan's victory over Inter, Sabatini said:
"The derby was won because Milan took the field as a sacrificial victim, and desperation, in football, triumphs over calmness."
And now against Lecce, he concludes:
"The Milan players must maintain that desperation", as relayed via Radio Rossonera.
