In an interview, Matteo Gabbia's agent, Tullio Tinti, spoke about the AC Milan defender:
"Gabbia has made a leap in the last two seasons," he told Tuttomercatoweb. "He is aware of his abilities. He's a fantastic young man and an important player, and he's shown that on the field. He's earned everything on his own. After six months on loan at Villarreal, he did very well at Milan. He started behind, but he earned his spot with great performances. Renewal? They called me, and we'll talk about it soon."

He added:
"He's very happy, he's worn the Milan shirt since he was a child, so he's super happy to extend and be an important player for the Rossoneri. But obviously, discussions need to be had."
On the national team call-up and possibly wearing the captain's armband at Milan:
"He's ready for these things, he's a mature guy, an example for everyone. He's the first to arrive at the field and the last to leave. He's a top guy, he's ready for anything."
