La Gazzetta dello Sport reports today that AC Milan is thinking of signing a new midfielder in the upcoming winter transfer window. Tijjani Reijnders and Youssouf Fofana are constantly playing without rest and lack convincing alternatives.

Suitable alternatives are lacking in Milan's squad list...
Part of the issue is that Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who has been recovering from injury and going through a period of poor form, is not a natural defensive midfielder. Additionally, Yunus Musah, who is training for that role, has yet to fully convince coach Paulo Fonseca. Since September 1st, the American has only played 43 minutes in Serie A.
It’s also important to remember that Ismaël Bennacer is out for a long time after undergoing calf surgery. He is expected to return in January, but will need time to get back to top form, while Milan will need more certainty.
Therefore, another player is required.
Morten Frendrup could be a target for AC Milan
Born in 2001, the Danish player could leave Genoa for 20 million euros, five times what Genoa paid for him in 2022. A deal could be completed with the right formula, such as a loan with an obligation to buy.
The Rossoneri scouts have watched Frendrup multiple times and he has impressed everyone. He is seen as a top candidate for Milan's future midfield.
