During a Twitch live on Nicolò Schira's channel, Shakhtar Donetsk's sporting director Carlo Nicolini has spoken about AC Milan attacking midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu as his path crossed with the Turkey International in the Turkish national team where he used to work as an assistant coach to Mircea Lucescu. Here are his words:
"In my opinion he is a champion. In 2021 Milan are making a considerable series of errors, ranging from the transfer market to the preparation. All this talk of renewal or non-renewal is an error. The constant speeches and the fact that it is still expiring, to a boy like Calhanoglu, they can take away certainties. His role is that of the attacking midfielder, he plays the defensive and offensive phases, finds the goal and makes many assists. He is a strong but particular player who must be put in a position to express himself. Mircea, in Turkey, said to me at times: 'Take Calha, walk for half an hour and empty his head' Hakan is a very sensitive boy, and with us he played great games with this 'treatment', then maybe he returned to Gattuso's Milan and played very badly. I think he is very strong and that Milan must absolutely fight to keep him".
