Tijjani Reijnders is Milan’s golden asset.
The Dutch midfielder who is 26 years old arrived to the San Siro for a 21 million euros fee from AZ Alkmaar. But, as relayed via Il Corriere dello Sport in this morning's print edition, his value has already tripled, now estimated at around 60 million euros according to some assessments.
Endorsement from Zlatan Ibrahimović, who spoke highly of him in an interview for the new Champions League magazine, confirms that the Dutchman is now a pillar not only in Milan’s starting lineup but also in Koeman’s 'Oranje' squad, which now seems almost unable to do without him.
Reijnders is now also a goalscorer
Last season, there were often complaints about the player's lack of finish in the final third. He could cause chaos in the opponent's defence, put himself in shooting positions, but either wouldn’t shoot or would do so poorly.
This year, that tune has changed, as Reijnders has already matched last year’s goal tally (4). This crucial improvement has made him even more decisive in the attacking midfield.
Notably, 3 out of his 4 goals have been scored in the Champions League, the prime international stage, including one at the Bernabéu against reigning European champions Real Madrid.
Milan enjoys their asset, Reijnders, but watch out for interest from abroad
Manchester City and Barcelona are reportedly tracking the Rossonero midfielder.
As they did when signing him, Milan has once again moved quickly, already reaching out to the Dutchman’s father-agent to extend his contract and double his salary to 3.5 million euros.
This move has been well received by the player’s family, increasing the trust and optimism at Casa Milan for a signature that would be incredibly important.
