Urbano Cairo, president of Torino FC, once again addressed rumours about the potential sale of his club club during a conference in Rome.

Here are his statements, as reported by Calcio & Finanza:

"I don’t want to remain the owner of Torino for life. I will sell if someone wealthier and more capable than me comes along, but for now, there isn’t anyone."

Regarding possible meetings with investors, he said:

"There haven’t been any meetings so far."

Yesterday, Cairo had already hinted strongly at the possibility of selling the club:

"I’ve been with Torino for 19 years, and I won’t stay forever. Sooner or later, I will hand over the reins. However, I hope that when I sell Torino, it will be to someone wealthier than me who can bring an additional 20-30 million euros… When someone richer comes along, I will step aside. I don’t want to remain at Torino for life. Even decades come to an end—this applies to me too."

Cairo added:

"But we shouldn’t generalise: Elliott Management at Milan has certainly done well, and Commisso is doing a good job in Florence. In football, having a lot of money isn’t enough to achieve results. Italian football has attracted foreign ownership because the prices of Italian clubs are very competitive. Sometimes, tensions arise from personal relationships in the football world. There’s definitely a need for greater unity of purpose and clear strategies that involve the entire system," as relayed via Milannews.it.
