Milan is currently seeing the Champions League through binoculars.
After four consecutive seasons of qualifying for Europe's top competition, the Rossoneri could be left out of the battle as a result of a season that is increasingly looking like a failure. The problem is that at the moment—and especially if another negative result comes tonight against Lazio—even a Europa League spot would be at risk.
A Milan side completely out of European competitions, after spending so much and with a squad that, on paper, is of high quality, would be truly unacceptable.
For this reason, La Gazzetta dello Sport headlined today:
"At Least the Europa League."
To secure a European spot, the Rossoneri are relying on their key winter signing: Santi Gimenez. The newspaper writes: "Milan, led by Gimenez. The lesser cup to save the season." Even though there wouldn’t be much to save, considering the club originally aimed to compete for the Scudetto.
The subheading states:
"Beating Lazio to close the gap in the standings. The Mexican striker has already scored five goals against the Biancocelesti, Leao will support him."
Milan is counting on Bebote, who has already hurt Lazio in the past.
