After a thrilling season that at one point seemed poised to become historic, Nottingham Forest celebrated their return to European competition by qualifying for the upcoming UEFA Conference League — a tournament that, as an English club, will certainly be one of their key objectives for the 2025/26 season.
In their attempt to lift the trophy — which they’ll have to contend for with the likes of Fiorentina — the "Tricky Trees," owned by Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis, decided to look to Italy, but received a firm “no” from Juventus’ American winger Timothy Weah. As per a recent report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, their sights have shifted to another American playing in Serie A: Milan’s Yunus Musah.

Let's go step by step...
Juventus had reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest for a fee of €15 million. While that figure isn't far off from the €10.3 million plus bonuses paid in the summer of 2023, it still would have represented a significant capital gain on the club’s books — thanks to amortization — before the financial year closes on June 30, 2025 (marking the end of the 2024/25 accounting period). Everything was called off because Weah viewed the move as a step backward in his career, especially since it meant missing out on Champions League football — something Juventus have secured.
Wolverhampton also interested in the AC Milan player:
But it’s not just Nottingham interested in Musah, who can play both centrally and out wide in midfield. Italian sources also mention Wolverhampton, a club that sold Aït-Nouri to Manchester City in early June, just before the Club World Cup. At the moment, the Premier League appears to be the most likely destination for Milan’s number 80.
Yunus Musah is available in the transfer market...
Meanwhile, Milan is undergoing a significant restructuring of its midfield, having sold Reijnders to Manchester City and bringing in Luka Modric (already done) and Samuele Ricci (nearing completion). Milan have also discussed Musah with Napoli, but the Partenopei weren’t willing to meet the €25 million asking price. Now, Forest and Wolves have shown interest — still only interest at this stage — which could arrive at just the right time for Milan, who need sales to fund one last push to complete Allegri’s midfield. The final piece could be either Granit Xhaka from Bayer Leverkusen or Ardon Jashari from Club Brugge, as relayed via Calciomercato.com
