AC Milan are pushing hard for Rasmus Højlund and will do everything possible to convince him, in a short timeframe, to return to Serie A and wear the Rossoneri shirt. At the moment, the Dane is at the top of the list of forwards that Furlani and Tare are evaluating to serve as an alternative to Giménez. But in addition to reaching an agreement with Manchester United over the terms of the deal (a loan with an option to buy), they must also secure the former Atalanta striker’s approval to return to the Italian league.

For now, Højlund has made it clear that he wants to fight for his place at Manchester United, where he has scored 26 goals over the past two seasons,10 of them in a 2024–25 campaign that brought him little satisfaction. In other words, he has no intention of packing his bags despite the arrival (to be made official today) of Sesko, who will be the undisputed starter at centre-forward after a major investment from Leipzig. Rasmus has not been discouraged by this major signing and believes he can still earn playing time, but both the club hierarchy and Amorim intend to move on and find him a new destination.

By the way, while Milan fans are waiting to see who the new striker should be under Massimiliano Allegri’s guidance in the new season, you might want to check out https://winwin-online.com/. The platform could be useful for fans who are looking to pass the time and be entertained, and perhaps strike gold while playing casino games. The website is legally licensed and has secure payment methods as well.

Speaking of Hojlund again even though his agent, Kees Vos, and his agency SEG have sensed that his opportunities at United will shrink compared to last season, the Dane has not accepted this idea, in fact, on Instagram, he showed happiness over Sesko’s arrival. He isn’t worried about the competition; rather, he’s pleased the team is strengthening. That is why he wants to stay. Milan, however, could solve Højlund’s problems by offering him a starting role and the chance to be a key player in a league where, as a 20-year-old with Atalanta, he scored 9 goals. For now, though, Rasmus is unmoved. It remains to be seen if the Rossoneri’s intensifying pursuit changes his mind.

The numbers

Manchester United paid €78 million for his transfer, bonuses included, but the investment has not delivered the desired results, at least on the pitch. This is why the club has decided to change course regarding their number nine. They now hope to recover part of the investment. As happened with Rashford, who moved to Barcelona, United are ready to authorise a loan with an option to buy. However, the total cost of the deal must remain under €40 million for Milan, ideally keeping the loan fee as low as possible, no more than €5–6 million plus an option to buy set at €28–30 million.

United are hoping to exceed the €40 million threshold and would welcome the start of a bidding war that could improve the deal by including an obligation to buy. Milan are moving forward but do not want negotiations to drag on too long, to avoid other clubs entering the race, although, for now, the main work is convincing the player himself to accept a project that, in 2025–26, will lack the appeal of European competitions. An added obstacle? Time will tell.

What are Rasmus Hojlund’s numbers last season with Manchester United?

In the 2024/2025 campaign, the Danish centre-forward made 52 appearances across all competitions (Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup, and the EFL Cup). He managed to have his name on the scoring sheet 10 times while providing 4 assists to his teammates. Overall, he clocked just over 3300 minutes on the pitch.

What is certain is that the Rossoneri believe in this move, and yesterday there were frequent contacts with the intermediary handling the deal. Meanwhile, Tare is also working to finalise the signing of Zachary Athekame from Young Boys. The goal was to reach an agreement for the Swiss player by the end of the week; it has become more complicated, but it is still not entirely out of reach.
