Giuseppe Sala, mayor of Milan, spoke on RTL 102.5 and said the following about the negotiation for the sale of San Siro and the surrounding areas to Milan and Inter: "If all goes well, we should go to the council tomorrow. The stadium must be ready by 2031, because UEFA is telling us they will not consider Milan for the 2032 European Championship if San Siro remains."

Here are more of Sala's words, which were reported by sportmediaset.it:
"If there are no new obstacles in the council, Milan and Inter will finally be able to envision a stadium of their own, privately owned, to modernize and bring to the level of the best stadiums in Europe. This is a major step because the process has been very long and, in some ways, exhausting. Thus, after exploring other options and considering Rozzano (for Inter) and San Donato (for Milan), the home of both the Nerazzurri and Rossoneri will be able to return, for a long time, to the center of the city."
