AC Milan's director, Igli Tare, spoke to the microphones of ahead of the match against AS Roma at the San Siro.
Here's what the ex Lazio director had to say:
"How is Allegri after Giovanni Galeone's passing?
“He’s shaken, we were just talking about it. He had a very special bond with him, he cared deeply, he felt he was part of his family. But that’s life, you move forward.”
Does this match still feel like a derby to you?
“I’ve won enough derbies, I won the one that mattered on May 26 in Rome. But now, in this new chapter with Milan, we have to focus only on beating a strong opponent. Winning tonight would bring us level with the top group in the standings, and we need to stay positive.”
Today Christopher Nkunku starts as a striker with Rafael Leao…
“Nkunku has played 72% of his career as a central forward. He’s a particular kind of striker, he knows how to do it well, he can also play with his back to goal. It’s the first time he’s playing with Leao, they showed in training that they can combine well, but we’ll see now. Gimenez is going through a rough spell, but I want to stress he has the full confidence of the club and the staff. His injury came at a bad time, but we look ahead. These things are part of the game.”
Yesterday Massimiliano Allegri said in the press conference that getting into Rafael Leao's head is complicated. Have you figured him out? Tare said:
“I find him to be a very good guy. From the outside people have one impression, but from the inside it’s completely different. We talked a lot this week. When he’s in good shape, he’s the kind of player who wins matches on his own. I’m confident he’ll have a great game tonight, he even promised us he would (laughs).”
