Milan want to extend Luka Modric’s contract, which expires at the end of the season on June 30, 2026, for one more year. These are the latest updates on the 40-year-old Croatian midfielder, who is a leader for the club on and off the pitch.
The Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, in today’s edition, reviewed Milan’s first steps ahead of the January 2026 transfer window. The paper noted that the club are close to signing Colombian left-sided player Juan David Arizala from Independiente Medellín and are in talks with Bayern Munich for German attacking winger Adin Ličina.
The Rossoneri club managers are looking ahead and, according to their strategy, are targeting young talent to develop in the squad. A top-level team, though, cannot rely only on young players, no matter how strong they are. This is why, according to the newspaper, the idea of extending Luka Modric’s deal, which expires on June 30, 2026 and includes a one-year renewal option, is gaining strength.
The 40-year-old Croatian is earning the extension with what he shows in every match. No one in this Milan interprets the role of leader, on and off the pitch, better than him. On the field he is always among the best. He sat out Lazio vs Milan in the Coppa Italia only to rest ahead of league duties.
