The importance of Luka Modric in this team is fundamental, immense. His impact on the Rossoneri world has been strong from the start. A spark capable of dazzling anyone, even the most skeptical. Age will be an issue, he cannot play every match. Yet Modric has always let his performances speak, managing both slow and fast tempos in the many big matches the Rossoneri have won so far this season.
It is necessary, however, to ask: how long can Modric sustain these rhythms? Playing 95 minutes every time carries a risk of fatigue, and for several matches Luka has appeared slightly less precise than usual. No drama, just a matter of limited resources. This is where Jashari becomes crucial for Modric’s performance in red and black.

Vital importance
It is not fair to call this Milan “Modric-dependent.” Yet so far, in the league, the Rossoneri have always started with the Croatian from the first minute. Except for the Coppa Italia, where Luka came on only in the last 10 minutes, Milan has never known or wanted to do without Modric, and rightly so. A player of his caliber is crucial in every aspect: character, dressing room influence, assists, and goals (both already achieved: for Loftus in Lecce and the first Milan goal against Bologna). Luka’s age, however, unfortunately does not allow him to play every match. This was not obvious in the first two months, September and October, but for several weeks now, a slight drop in Modric’s performance is noticeable. His technical quality is unquestionable: he may miss two passes but recover three balls in the next play. Over time, though, he needs more periods of rest. This is where Ardon Jashari comes in.
Could Ardon Jashari be the right backup for Luka Modric?
So far, he has played more than an hour, performing excellently against Lazio in the Coppa Italia. Jashari is eager to make an impact at Milan for many reasons. The strong trust of Igli Tare and the attention of coach Allegri, his high market value dictated by Brugge, and expectations from fans and himself remain high. A serious injury at the start of the season certainly affected his initial impact, but with Serie A becoming more intense and the Supercoppa approaching, Jashari will have to claim his space, as relayed via Milan News.
Without Luka Modric, who will need healthy and human rest, Ardon Jashari has all the tools to fill that role. The Swiss midfielder can dictate tempo and provide physicality in duels. He has one clear limitation: fitness, not yet at its peak. Already in the upcoming home match against Sassuolo on Sunday at 12:30, he could prove useful in that role, or even alongside Modric, although this scenario seems slightly utopian for now. Jashari is eager, and stronger than ever.
