Important days for Mike Maignan’s contract renewal, with negotiations entering a crucial phase. Matteo Moretto, in his usual video on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, summed up the situation regarding the French goalkeeper’s contract at Milan:
“These are really very important days. From what I know and what is being reported, I can confirm that Milan has done their utmost. The offer Milan made to Maignan is the same that was discussed in September 2024, the same that was discussed in February 2025, when the parties were practically ready to sign. Maignan would become the highest-paid player in the squad alongside Leao. The salary ceiling in terms of fixed pay remains 5 million euros net per season plus bonuses, meaning Maignan would immediately enter the ranks of the highest earners in the squad."
Moretto continued to talk about Mike Maignan's contractual situation:
"I want to add, however, that we are not at the signing stage yet. It is true that Milan is very optimistic because they believe they have done everything possible, they believe that at this moment there are no other clubs waiting to snatch Maignan away, and economically the offer is still significant. But there is not yet a definitive yes from Maignan; that final point is still missing. There is a lot of optimism at Milan, but before saying that a renewal is 100% certain, steps need to be taken carefully. Milan does not want to waste time; they want an answer as soon as possible because soon Maignan could also sign for another club on a free transfer, so Milan needs to prepare for that. But I repeat, Milan is optimistic. Maignan’s yes is still missing, which the club hopes to get in the coming days.”
