Franco Ordine, on the pages of Il Giornale, commented on Milan’s current situation as follows:
"Milan’s masochism is Champions League level. In just a few weeks, precisely while the team has begun to struggle in the standings, losing momentum and matches, and calling into question the main European spot that had seemed guaranteed, it has managed to collect a series of internal conflicts, protests from both organised and non-organised fans, and future transfer-market speculation such as to stamp the club with the label of new football self-sabotage."
"What then publicly set off the powder keg was the breakdown in relations between Allegri and Ibrahimovic, who were seen together last summer at the start of the season on the paths of Milanello discussing amicably, and have ended up at odds, due to rejected transfer plans (Thiago Silva and Mateta) and some of Zlatan’s interventions beyond his remit (talks with players) which were sent back by the coach. Meanwhile, much else has happened, starting with Furlani’s initial contacts with certain sporting directors (Paratici first and then D’Amico), which ended up on websites and in newspapers and have destabilised not only the position of sporting director Tare but also Allegri’s credibility within the dressing room."
