Today’s edition of Il Giornale carries this headline about AC Milan this morning:
"High tension between Massimiliano Allegri and Zlatan Ibrahimović. Zlatan wants him gone."
The newspaper explains that relations between Massimiliano Allegri and Zlatan Ibrahimović have deteriorated sharply in recent months. The first clashes reportedly occurred during the January transfer window, when the Swede proposed Thiago Silva as a defender, but the Livorno-born coach rejected the idea because of the player’s age and because he did not want to overshadow Matteo Gabbia.
Then came the idea of Jean-Philippe Mateta, with the former striker allegedly already having contacted some players to inform them that the new centre-forward had been found, but the deal later collapsed because of the well-known problems that emerged during the medical examinations.
The situation then worsened further when Milan’s negative results began. Ibrahimović’s dissatisfaction reportedly became increasingly persistent, and from there came the idea, together with CEO Giorgio Furlani, of making changes at the end of the season involving both Allegri and sporting director Igli Tare. From that moment, rumours began circulating about the departures of both the coach and the sporting director at the end of the campaign.
