When, last 25 May, Gerry Cardinale decided to show the door to all the senior Milan figures who failed to achieve the Champions League objective, it was described as a Rossoneri revolution.
It was expected that the American businessman, also considering his statements in recent weeks during the season, would have prepared a Plan B in case Champions League qualification did not arrive and would have decided to dismiss everyone.
Evidently, that was not the case. Too many voices and rumours, too long spent trying to find a coach (not the first one approached), and even more time to find a sporting director, who is still missing.
For all these reasons, 'Il Quotidiano Sportivo' today attempts to analyse the situation, but the outcome is certainly neither positive nor flattering. The sports daily headlines this morning as follows:
"The revolution fails to take off. Milan, refusals and U-turns. Worksite (still) open. Ozek or Boto with Amorim."
Two possible names are put forward to work alongside Amorim on the sporting side: Devin Ozek and José Boto. In the subheading it is added: "From Iraola to Krösche, via Slot and Rangnick: the list of ‘no’s grows longer. For the sporting director role, the 31-year-old Ozek is back in contention, and former Benfica man Boto also emerges."
