After days of discussions and careful evaluations, Gerry Cardinale has finalised the new structure of AC Milan’s sporting department. The ownership decided not to appoint a new football director, instead opting for an internal solution based on the coordinated work of several key figures within the club.
A central role will be entrusted to Ruben Amorim, who will operate as a coach-manager. The coach will be responsible for setting the priorities for improving the squad, identifying which areas need strengthening, what characteristics the new signings should possess, and which profiles would best fit his style of play.
The coach’s requirements will then be developed by the scouting department and the data analysis unit. These departments will be tasked with identifying the most suitable players both from a technical standpoint and in terms of financial viability, while adhering to the guidelines established by the club.
The new strategic committee will consist of Gerry Cardinale, Ruben Amorim, Almstadt, Gardiner, Calvelli, and Castelblanco. Additional support will also be provided by Zlatan Ibrahimović, who will continue to work with the club as a Senior Advisor.
Meanwhile, Corriere dello Sport discusses Jorge Mendes and the influence he could have on transfer-market decisions: “The Mendes manoeuvre” is the headline. It continues: “The highly influential agent could shape Milan’s choices in the transfer market.”
