Peppe Di Stefano, Sky Sport journalist, expressed himself live on television while commenting on the new managerial structure imposed at Milan by Gerry Cardinale:
“This is Cardinale’s Milan, he will take responsibility for his decisions, for better or worse. It is not certain that Milan will have a negative season, but on the other hand Milan starts from fifth place in the table and that is a position that obviously needs to be improved.
The split with the world of AC Milan supporters is there, and I am not only talking about organised fan groups, I am talking about the fans who buy season tickets, ordinary supporters, father and son, husband and wife, those who do not belong to any group or club scattered across Italy or the world but who simply go to the stadium because that is what they are used to doing. At the moment there is this lack of connection with the current ownership, there is a lack of trust. The sense of protest is currently alive and present on social media, and in my view it was real up until the last league match and it will become so again in a few weeks when Milanello reopens its doors. I believe this Milan will have to earn people’s trust and there is only one way to do it. Words mean nothing, results are needed. Because if you get results, perhaps people will calm down; if you do not get results, for this Milan it will be a disaster.”
