There are ten days left until the start of the transfer window, and AC Milan still do not have executives in charge of the sporting department. First came Ralf Rangnick's refusal, and then Eintracht Frankfurt's resistance regarding the Krosche–Hardung duo, leaving the Rossoneri club groping in the dark despite already having chosen a manager. Another unsuccessful attempt was made yesterday to secure the German pair, and in the meantime Casa Milan is organising some alternative and temporary solutions.
Milan contacts Krosche and Hardung again:
Gerry Cardinale is not willing to give up. Yesterday, he tried to reopen the Krosche–Hardung matter through new contacts. This was reported this morning by Gazzetta dello Sport, which highlights the Rossoneri owner's hope that Eintracht Frankfurt might soften its stance, possibly persuaded by the payment of compensation. However, this does not appear to be in the German club's plans, as it remains highly irritated by the timing of the entire operation. Their position remains one of firm resistance, and Milan must find a way to respond because the start of the season is getting ever closer and a squad must be built for Ruben Amorim.
Devin Ozek or an internal solution:
So, what are the alternatives to Krosche and Hardung? According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Cardinale has spoken to several candidates, but the German pair were his preferred choice and no one else particularly stands out behind them. Only Devin Ozek has been identified as a profile of interest: the 31-year-old was put forward again in recent days by an Italian agent and is also being pursued by other clubs.
At the moment, there is a risk that the season will begin with an internal solution, which could be temporary. The CEO's responsibilities have been assumed by board member Massimo Calvelli, who has signing authority for market operations up to €10 million. Working on the sporting side are Jovan Kirovski, who could be promoted; chief scout Donato Lomonte, who could be promoted to a pro forma sporting director role; and Bobby Gardiner, who is expected to be given responsibility for the entire scouting department.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Ruben Amorim has already provided some general guidance, and this group is working to take the first steps in that direction.
