AC Milan's summer transfer window has got off to a flying start. When a club spends more than €100 million in the first week of the window and signs both its new first-choice striker and its new starting centre-back, there is no other way to describe it.
That is simply a fact. The season itself and performances on the pitch will ultimately determine whether those signings prove successful. For now, however, the Rossoneri have no intention of slowing down and are continuing to work on both arrivals and departures to provide Ruben Amorim with the strongest squad possible.
Amorim continues to push to sign Gonçalo Inacio
Although Gonçalo Inácio's name first emerged several weeks ago, before Milan made a strong move for Mario Gila, interest in the Portuguese defender has never truly faded. The deal remains very difficult, but Ruben Amorim is eager to reunite with him at Milan after previously trying to bring him to Manchester.
The 2001-born Portugal international, who was handed his breakthrough by the current Milan manager, has a €60 million release clause in his contract with Sporting CP. Milan have no intention of paying that amount, but the club hopes Amorim's close relationship with the player could make the difference, as relayed via Milan News. The objective is to negotiate the fee down to around €40 million. However, Inácio would only arrive if Fikayo Tomori leaves the club.
