Ruben Amorim's new Milan are beginning to increase the training workload. During the first few days, the Portuguese coach favoured short but extremely intense sessions, almost always with the ball, focusing on possession play, the principles of the 3-4-2-1 system, and the initial pressing patterns to be used next season.
Today, however, the squad completed their first extended training session of pre-season: around two hours of work designed to speed up the players' understanding of Amorim's new tactical demands, as pointed out via Milannews.it.
The programme will continue tomorrow, Saturday, while on Sunday Milan will play a behind-closed-doors training match at Milanello against Navarro's new Milan Futuro side. It will be the first real opportunity to assess the team's spacing, build-up play from the back, and the movement of the two attacking midfielders behind the striker. More than the result, Amorim will be interested in the team's tempo, synchronisation and commitment.
At the same time, the club continue to work on the transfer market. In the coming hours, a decisive meeting with Luka Modrić is expected.
Milan are keen to keep him, and Amorim considers him a valuable figure, particularly for the development of the squad. Once the Croatian's situation is resolved, attention will shift primarily to outgoing transfers, which are necessary to free up both squad space and financial resources for further recruitment.
Several positions also remain to be strengthened: an attacking midfielder capable of operating between the lines, a wing-back suited to covering the entire flank, and, should Fikayo Tomori leave, he is attracting significant interest, particularly from England, a new centre-back capable of fitting into a back three.
Amorim's Milan is therefore beginning to take shape both on the training pitch and in the boardroom, as the club awaits the moment the spotlight fully turns to the upcoming Rossoneri season.
