Peppe Di Stefano, a Sky Sport journalist, spoke to Radio Rossonera about Christian Pulisic’s future at AC Milan:
"I expect to see the Pulisic of two years ago. I believe he will stay at Milan. Cardinale is American and I think he wants an American symbol at the club. But beyond that, apart from last season, Pulisic’s first two years were perfect: he scored double figures in both seasons. Last year he scored fewer goals, there was less chemistry and he suffered many injuries."
"I believe that in a 3-4-2-1 system you don’t need two wingers playing behind the striker, but rather two attacking midfielders who know how to play with their backs to goal, operate between the lines and also act as second strikers. Leão is not that type of player because he is a winger; Pulisic is, Nkunku can do it, as can Saelemaekers and Rabiot when needed."
"I hope Pulisic can remain at Milan, but I know there is a contract situation that needs to be resolved. Then there is the injury issue, which is not easy to manage: over the last 12 months he has been injured very often. However, it is difficult to find a player with Pulisic’s quality and value."
Di Stefano on Milan’s transfer market
"I don’t believe," Di Stefano explained when discussing Milan’s transfer strategy, "that Milan will have, or want to have, another €100 million to put into the market as ‘non-recoverable spending’. And I also believe it is right for Milan to sell players."
"The team is built through the atmosphere in the dressing room, and if you keep players in the squad such as Tomori, who I personally rate highly, but whom you have decided will no longer be part of the project, doesn’t play and lacks consistency, there is a risk."
